I am a retired 65 year old and I was using a 2009 iPod Classic to rotate, on and off, my 2,100 or so Cd's, digitized in iTunes using Apple's lossless codecs. I was on a flight using my iPod Classic with my Bowers and Wilkins PX7 headphones, when the person next to me using a HiBy R6 Pro asked me if I would like to connect and listen with my headphones. The sound quality was incomparable and similar to my home system. He later sent me an email with the contact information of MusicTeck. At this point I would like to thank Andrew at MusicTeck for promptly answering both my pre and post sale questions.
The unit arrived perfectly, the stainless steel and glass unit feels and looks luxurious, it is nice to hold, the six buttons work nice and crisp. It came with all the cables I need to use.
I was apprehensive about entering into the Android environment and leaving Apple and was totally unprepared after using the iPod Classic to find I could just about do anything with this unit. I first connected to WiFi and found I could also connect to many other services, before I even checked it out with my Cd's I had downloaded and connected with my Nest Thermostat and smoke detectors, All three Amazon Show's, Amazon Prime and listened to my Amazon Hi Def streaming music account as well as movies. I even put Netflix, my headphone App etc on as well.
I first downloaded music from iTunes to a 256 GB card and later most of my music to a 512 GB card. Using the HiBy music App I was quickly up and running and listening to music. There was a little learning curve but everything so far was accomplished the day it arrived. The sound is truly superb but of course that is my subjective opinion.
The HiBy music App has many features, as does the iTunes program, but I am older and really just want to play an album, sit back, listen to it and enjoy it when not in my media room at home. I have played around with some of the features, as I have with iTunes, over the last couple of weeks and have used some of them. there is a learning curve as it is different to Apple and some features are not the same but I understand it is not iTunes and unfair to compare the two.
I will only ever use the 3.5 mm connection and Bluetooth for listening, the USB cable works well for downloading music, I even managed to download music using WiFi to the Micro SD card, simple for younger people I am sure but an achievement for me and it worked on the first attempt.
I will end at this point and not go into depth on every nuance of the system, I bought it to listen to my albums with great sound and it does that beyond my expectations; it will hold my whole music library, it looks and feels like a real quality product with the Stainless Steel and glass body enhancing the experience.
I had never heard of a DAC, IEM, Balanced and unbalanced outputs or many other apparent audiophile acronym's and terms, so I presume I am not an audiophile or competent reviewer for a serious buyer of a music player. I would recommend this unit to anyone with no hesitation.
