Unexpectedly Good

I came from a perspective of an upgrader. The N7 is superb! I was using the Hiby R6 (2020) prior to this and the N7 wow me and totally made the R6 redundant.

The strenght is the imaging and instrument separation. Everything has its own place and you can distinctly hear them. It upgraded the listening exprrience of my IEMs.

But weirdly, it made my BA IEMs sounds clearer and better than my hybrid, tribrid, and dynamics ones. I love my Er3se and Fiio FA9 with the N7. The AKG n5005 sounds better than on R6 but somehow loses to FA9 in terms of clarity. The Fiio FD7 and Monarch Mk2 both sounds a bit muddy. I think the N7 highlighted the difference between the drivers and made it more obvious in their sound profiles.

Its a DAP which has a slightly elevated emphasis on mids and highs, but lows are great too! Definitely a keeper!!!

RS8 vs. RS6

I purchased an RS6 to try the R-2R DAC and was very happy with the music that it produced. I decided to try an RS8 to see if double the R-2R components would be twice as good. I can say there is a difference between the Darwin I and Darwin II DACS, but not twice as good (typical diminishing returns). For those that want to travel with their DAP the RS6 is the way to go, it is much lighter and more portable. If you must have the best of the best, the RS8 is your DAP, it is a great sounding TOTL DAP and makes you want to keep listening to the music. However, it weights a ton, with all the extra components and the huge battery. Both units have the magic to make the music enticing, but I think the RS6 is the better value for me. Which ever way you choose to go you are a winner.

Top TW

The U-Free are really good earbuds. They have a clean, neutral sound with no bass “processing” like many top-of-the-line TWs. In particular, the bass is dry and clean. Last but not least, the volume is really very high. Definitely the best TW's I've ever had!!!
