HIFIMAN Arya Unveiled

These headphones are a big step up from the Hifiman Sundara. Everything I hear is more real and has it's own space better. I can pick out an instrument or singer from the mix and only focus on them if I'd like. The highs are crisper. I felt the sundara had more slam than. these for gospel or Steely Dan type thump. These so still thump, but in more of an uncolored way. These appear to be phones for someone who prefers clarity of everything recorded. The soundstage isn't vast, but defenitely larger than intimate. There is some width and depth, but these aren't extremely wide or deep. Just enough to feel far away from claustrophobic. Each piece in a recording comes across with good texture and size. The magnets appear to have been developed to offer some protection to the driver in the middle (at least as seen from outside the cup), inside the cup has slightly less. These appear somewhat hungry as I have the dail no less than 12 o'clock usually. If I were to make any adjustments to these, it would be slightly heaver slam, more depth/width to the soundstage. With all that said, these are the best sounding phones I've ever owned by a good margin.
