I've always wanted one of the Focal headphones after I got the Audeze LCD2C. While the bass on the LCD2C is better , the clarity and soundstage of the Clear MG wins hands down. I'm glad I finally got it.
Little DAP that punches above its weight and cost. R2R for the masses. Very nice bottom end with very controlled fast bloom and good rumble. Mids are nice with little extra weight to the lower mids providing convincing male vocals and guitars that can sound crunchy and textures. Highs are extended but not somnolent or splashy . Nice staging especially front to back . Nice pairing with the EE Legends EVO
Unit is compact and light. It was what I was looking for.
The M6 Ultra case not only looks great but is a perfect fit and very well made also.
Everything else is going to be a side-grade after the Jewel. My previous favorite iem was the UM Indigo but the Jewel is easily a tier above. I would say the Jewel is a mildly mid-centric sound signature with excellent sub-bass. The mids are clear and smooth, with precise spacing and detail across the entire range of frequencies so every sound has room to come through without compromise. The vocals for both male and female voices are very honest and revealing of the actual recording without coloration. And when I focus on listening to the bass it's some of the best bass I've heard, yet it doesn't dominate and it exists in its own space. When the song has strong bass notes the Jewel's dynamic driver can do any heavy lifting required with grace and high-resolution. Treble is stellar too, never too bright or dialed up, always accurate. I think the Jewel strikes a brilliant technical balance between power and control. It quite beautifully handles complex classical music, electronic music, voice and guitar, even 90s rap and every genre I've tried with it, always revealing rather than accentuating the recording.
