DITA Audio Presents: Project M

In the spirit of continuous development and evolution, DITA introduces its first resin-based, hybrid earphone, the Project M.

The M’s physical appearance is a departure from previous DITA designs, taking on an even more ergonomic form factor that is at once familiar yet uniquely DITA.

The Project M consists of DITA’s all-new PM1+ Dynamic Driver and a balanced armature driver.

As with all of DITA’s pieces, the Project M aims to be something that can be kept and enjoyed for a long time: It will be backed by self-mandated 10-year parts or replacement availability that speaks to DITA’s commitment to stability, long-term viability and re-sale value.

A New Driver Concept in the DITA Toolkit

The Project M features DITA Audio’s PM1+ Driver, a 9.8mm dynamic driver, newly developed and custom-built specifically for the Project M.

The main engine behind the Project M’s sound, the PM1+ is responsible for the texture and characteristics behind the M’s signature. With the driver itself boasting a full-range sound with clarity, speed and a punchy bass

The PM1+ Driver performs best with additional technology, leading us to augment the Project M’s soundstage with a single Knowles Balanced Armature Driver.

Both these drivers are housed in a highly optimized stainless-steel chamber.

Project M’s sound is projected through a custom moulded transfer tube that terminates in an aluminum nozzle.

The MOCCA Custom-Built Cable— Conductors by CARDAS:

Keeping in DITA's tradition of custom-building cables for every earphone. The Project M is equipped with the MOCCA cable that utilizes conductors made by Cardas in the USA.

The MOCCA cable is constructed of 16 strands of Cardas conductors per cable, twisted to DITA's specifications and jacketed in a flexible PVC outer layer.

This cable also comes equipped with DITA's APV2, future-proofing the Project M for use in the modern listener's ever-evolving rig.

Acoustic FEA is used in close conjunction with a series of both objective tests and subjective listening experiences to produce a sound tube profile that is optimised for the Project M’s dynamic driver. Continuing the DITA ethos of delivering a coherent, full-range experience that is largely based on 2 channel systems.

This entire assembly is finally encased in a slow pour, transparent resin mix, resulting in the earpiece’s elegant, intriguing visuals.

The resulting sound is one that bears all the hallmarks of a DITA product, positioned in a new price bracket.

Mini Systainer Carry Cases: By Tanos for DITA

In a nod to the Project M's minimal industrial aesthetics. Each unit of the Project M comes with its own Systainer Carry Case, made by Tanos for DITA Audio.

Each Tanos case comes with custom-made silicon inserts, mainly to protect both the case and the cables during shipping and before purchase. Upon purchase, the user has the option to freely remove the top and bottom case linings.

Both these inserts are molded quite nicely to the Tanos Case but we've added two pieces of double-sided tape on the bottom lining for extra security. These can be easily removed should the user choose to do so

Driver Counts: PM1+ Customized Dynamic Driver, Knowles BA--1DD+1BA

Cable: MOCCA, features 16 strands of Cardas conductors.

Case: Systainer Carry Case, made by Tanos

Stunning Design meets great sound

Dita Project M impressions

The Dita Project M is a hybrid IEM (1 DD & 1 BA) and impresses with it´s beautiful build quality.
The shell is made of clear resin that looks stunning. The MOCCA cable comes with a interchangeable AWESOME plug (APV-2).  It´s constructed of 16 strands of Cardas conductors per cable, it´s light and nice to wear.

Bass
The bass is precise and controlled without being overpowering. It reaches deep down, but does not overemphasize the lower frequencies. The clean and crisp sub-bass is particularly noticeable, adding foundation to the sound without overpowering the other frequency ranges.

Mids
The mids are clear and detailed, resulting in an excellent reproduction of voices and instruments. They appear natural and have a warm note that makes them particularly musical without overemphasizing them.

Treble
The treble of the Dita Project M is finely resolved and offers a lot of airiness without sounding sharp or strained. Even at higher volumes, they do not become unpleasant.

Sound stage
The sound stage is wide and offers a realistic spatial representation. You have the feeling of being in the middle of the music, with a good staggering of the instruments and clear separation of the individual elements. The imaging is precise and allows to localize the position of the individual instruments exactly

Conclusion
The Dita Project M offers balanced and detailed sound with outstanding build quality.

The bass is controlled, the mids and highs are clear and clean, and the soundstage offers an impressive depth.

The Project M is particularly impressive in terms of imaging and offers a great listening experience for audiophiles who value precision and detail at a great price. After 3 months of enjoyment, I can say that I will definitely keep them.

Project M

Beautifully made iem, nice shape that gives me a good fit. Benefits from having a few hours on, good soundstage and separation especially. The only nit pick could do with a little more sub bass, but for the price this is a very nice sounding iem. Great service once again from Music Teck.

Dita Project M is a marvel of price to performance!

$325?! For this?! What I mean is how can something of this soundscape and technical brilliance only cost $325?! The slow pour resin shell isn’t just stunning to the eye, it’s one of the most comfortable fits, and I have over 50 IEM. In my collection. The cable is super high quality, and built solidly. though I wish they would have included a 2.5mm. Sonically, the P-M has an enveloping soundstage, orbital in nature, along with pin point imaging. It’s also got excellent detail retrieval. Now the bass is punchy, resolving, and provides some warmth to the lower midrange, but it’s not sub bass focused, nor does it have enough bleed to color the mids, so it can seem a bit thin at times, but despite this, vocals have an emotive feel, and are present and forward, and the mids also have bite. The star of the show though, aside from the stage, are the highs. Ethereal is the word that comes to mind. It’s well extended, controlled, and shimmers, but rarely does it ever get sibilant or get out of control (this happens when you don’t feed it JUICE!). The P-M require an amp or DAC/DAP with high power to sound optimized. Otherwise, the stage flattened, the high become a touch sibilant or unruly, and the bass becomes soft. So if you’re going to take the plunge, make sure you have enough NITRO to feed this hungry engine. If so, it will rev and it will sing with a unique character anyone who’s a music fan needs to experience. These are no joke, and at a price that’s almost highway robbery.

I own IEMs that cost four to five times more than the Ditta, yet this set’s special tuning surpasses those “end game” IEMs by a large margin. The mids and highs are the standout features, but the lows are equally impressive when the track calls for them. They require a high-quality power source, so choose your equipment wisely, and you won’t be disappointed.
