Introducing the New Dual PCM1792A Card for the E7
After the AK4497 and AD1955 modules, the E7 now welcomes its third audio card — the PCM1792A, featuring dual PCM1792A DAC chips inside.
AK4497 → AD1955 → PCM1792A: “The Legendary Trio of DAC Icons”
Following the classic flagships from AKM and ADI, the PCM1792A stands as Texas Instruments’ most renowned flagship DAC, widely regarded as the truest representation of TI’s signature tuning style. Together, these cards form the E7’s complete Delta-Sigma “All-Star DAC lineup.”
Through E7’s interchangeable card design, these once-iconic and now rare DACs are reborn, allowing a new generation of audiophiles to rediscover their distinct charm and nostalgic tonal beauty. This is the very essence of E7’s modular design philosophy — a bridge between the golden era and the present.
125dB → 123dB: “From Warm & Sweet to Sweeter Still”
As one of the performance kings among classic Delta-Sigma chips, the PCM1792A can achieve an extremely high dynamic range — but only in desktop DACs with ±15V power rails and 9Vrms output. Such voltage levels are impractical for portable devices: they consume excessive power, shorten battery life, and require heavy signal attenuation, which leads to detail loss.
After balancing power consumption and performance, the first prototype used ±5.8V power for the I/V stage, with 5.2Vrms output, achieving a 125dB dynamic range.

At public demo events, most listeners praised its sweetness, while some hoped for “just a bit more.” We then went through extensive fine-tuning — even verifying whether the card could meet the PCM1792A’s official specs under ±15V — and ultimately confirmed that higher numbers don’t necessarily mean a better musical experience.
Thus, the final production version adopts asymmetric power supply for I/V and op-amp stages, achieving 123dB dynamic range and 4.7Vrms output — delivering a sound that’s richer, smoother, and irresistibly sweet.
