Acoustic Array
Twelve drivers across six technologies:
-
2 dynamic drivers
-
2 electrostatic drivers
-
2 micro planar drivers
-
2 bone conduction drivers
-
3 balanced armature drivers
-
1 brass-substrate piezoelectric driver
At the core of the array are high-performance balanced armature drivers from Sonion of Denmark, carefully selected to complement the surrounding technologies while allowing each driver type to fully express its own acoustic character.
Crossover and Acoustic Design
An eight-way crossover network, extensively tuned and voiced by hand, works alongside five independent acoustic bores. Energy is precisely distributed across each frequency band, allowing the different driver groups to integrate smoothly and naturally.
The result is a balanced three-way tonal structure with seamless transitions and a natural timbre that remains faithful to the original recording.
Four-Color Damascus Zirconium and Titanium Shell
The shell is crafted from a four-color composite of Damascus zirconium and titanium. Its production involves a demanding sequence of specialized processes, resulting in a material chosen for both its distinctive character and acoustic performance.
-
Billet. A custom high-purity zirconium and titanium composite stock is prepared, then quenched to increase hardness and density.
-
Forging. Repeated forging fuses the individual layers together while establishing the foundation of the four-color Damascus pattern.
-
Machining. Five-axis CNC machining shapes each shell to follow the natural contours of the ear, followed by fine polishing to create a smooth, refined surface.
-
Coloring. A proprietary flame treatment develops the final coloration, revealing four distinct tonal layers within the natural grain of the metal.
Why This Material
Damascus zirconium offers excellent resistance to wear and corrosion while oxidizing more slowly than common alternatives. Its acoustic properties also help suppress unwanted cavity resonance, reducing coloration and preserving a clean, finely resolved presentation.
Compared with conventional titanium alloy, four-color Damascus zirconium requires a significantly more involved production process. Multi-layer fusion, precision machining, meticulous finishing, and flame coloring all demand extensive craftsmanship, reflected in the character and finish of every completed shell.
