HiBy R4 - 4-Way HiFI Android DAP with free 32G microSD card and R4 strap

I purchased my HIBY R4 from Music Tec and I give them the highest marks for customer service.
I have a Sony NW-A306 I will use as comparison. The Sony is smaller and has a slightly more open soundstage. Otherwise they are sonically similar. The biggest problem with the Sony is the underpowered UI and the instability of the operating system. It is so frustrating that I sought out an alternative player and ultimately purchased the R4. The R4 is a bit bulkier and has a larger screen. The user interface is considerably more responsive than the Sony. There's rarely any lag when making adjustments. I use Amazon Music to stream most of my music. The sound quality is superb but the app isn't well suited for a small screen. It's difficult to navigate with many of the options truncated. The R4 sound is crystal clear with plenty of power and depth. The Sony has a built-in graphic equalizer, the R4 has a built-in parametric equalizer. The Sony equalizer is intuitive, the R4 is not. In fact the biggest complaint I have regarding the R4 is the lack of documentation. There's little to be found even if you visit Hiby's website. The R4 has frozen once since and I was unable to find the instructions on how to force shut it down until I stumbled upon a reddit post with the instructions. Fortunately the problem has not reoccurred. I was able to find some information by searching the web, - this is particularly handy for adjusting the parametric equalizer. There are many options with obscure labels, but once I had the instructions, I found the tool to be quite useful and I was able to precisely tailor the sound to my liking.
All-in-all I am quite pleased with this music player. I think it's an excellent value and so far the best portable solution I have found.

I have to say that the Hiby R4 has no reason to be this good at this price point, but the R4 excels in features and capabilities of DAPs twice the price.
I have been researching for a budget DAP for along time and after looking at SONY, Shanling and other budget DAPS, The R4 ticked all the boxes on what I wanted in a budget DAP, so I took a chance and bought the HIBY R4. Also, R4 has that really industrial mechanical coolness vibe to the DAP. I have to say this R4 does not disappoint. I originally came from listening to Hi-Res music from the iPhone dongle system, which sounded OK, but the R4 sounded amazing with my Letshoue S12 Pro IEM on 4.4mm balance connection. This is a definitely a buy for anyone interested in a budget DAP.

First and foremost, Musicteck was outstanding in the purchase of the Hiby R4. I recommend them significantly!

I am new to the world of IEM’s and Dap players. For that, I decided to take a chance on an inexpensive player, before diving in deep. I’m not an android user (Apple) and have found the navigation to be easy. I also find the Hiby app easy to use.

I have been in the 2-channel Audio world for 30+ years; however, I wanted to have a more intimate experience listening to music; so, I decided to try headphones. That was not a success for me, as the headphone was too confining for my wants. So, I decided to try IEM’s. I also wanted to use a DAP, as I didn’t want to intermix my phone with my music.

The R4 provides a lot of sound qualities, along with significant adjustability. I’m not sure how much more I would get, by going up the price chain. Right now, I plan on being happy….
