E7 AD1955 DAC Board
Classic Hi-End sound, reimagined for portable audio.

Featuring dual ADI AD1955 chips, this is the first time the legendary DAC has been applied to a portable player. Known for its refined tonality, smooth textures, and rich musicality, the AD1955 brings a uniquely elegant character to the E7—clear yet emotional, detailed yet natural.

This new board doesn’t just sound different—it’s built different:

  • Fully powered single-ended output matches balanced performance, offering uncompromised dynamics through any headphone port.

  • EA4-optimized Line Out delivers exceptional synergy for stack setups.

  • A discrete bias compensation circuit ensures tonal consistency, adapting intelligently to different playback settings while preserving the signature AD1955 sound.

Designed with audiophiles in mind, this upgrade card transforms the E7 into a portable expression of classic Hi-End spirit—sophisticated, musical, and unmistakably distinctive.

I find it to be a tad more natural on some songs than the default card, especially older songs (pre 1985)

Must hear DAC card for E7

I own LP6Ti7AE, owned variations of P6P, and have owned E7/AK4497 since its introduction. In my opinion, AKM4497 has a laid-back and safe tuning. Vocals and stage are positioned slightly away. Nice bass thud. For drums, hi-hats come through more than the snare hit. With AD1955, bass-mid-treble balance is much more uniform and natural, with improved resolution and depth over AK4497. The bass weight sits slightly lower towards subbass for a nice linear bass. Mids have excellent timbre/balance/depth. Perfect vocals/instrument balance for my taste. Treble hits the right area without sibilance. Drum kits sound great and work well with every genre I throw at them. I haven't had any desire to put the AK4497 back in. E7+AD1955 is incredible.

One thing to note is that AD1955 has a more powerful output than AK4497. With my sensitive monitors (CFA Clara/QDC King), I find myself listening at low-gain volume 1 (yes, just one click above zero...). Some albums are too loud for nighttime listening.
