A good and truly unique IEM

First of all, the transaction and communication with Musicteck were absolutely top-notch. Constant updates, clear explanations, real help, an irresistible offer, and shipping to Europe in under five days with no suprise extra charges.

Second: the earphone. I own several full-size headphones across different price ranges, and plenty of IEMs. I even have the MEST MKII second-hand.
This one is special. It has a more mature tuning than its predecessors. It won’t give you an immediate “WOW,” but if you have good music with you, this earphone becomes wonderful when paired with a solid DAP.

Luckily, I have the DX340 with AMP16, and I’m using the Effect Audio Eros II as the cable partner.
It’s correctly incorrect—maybe sitting right in the middle thanks to that soundstage—slightly bright, holographic, and with flawless timbre.

To sum it up: the sound is super-holographic, exciting, and genuinely unique. This also means it won’t be a safe bet for everyone, so I’d recommend borrowing or demoing it before you decide.

From Just Awful to Absolutely Wonderful

Ordered just iem with no cable. Put an OCC cable, made by a respected cable maker, on the JetBlack. It was just awful. Scratchy, way to edgy, excessive treble and a total lack of tonal balance. Pulled out a cheap copper cable and tried on the JetBlack. OMG, tonality, balance, dynamics, and imaging was just outstanding. All the excessive edginess disappeared. Ordered the Link Custom cable from MusicTeck. The sound got better and better. What a difference a matched cable makes. Added a minor EQ and the JetBlack is now a a joy to listen to. Live and learn.

Natural masterpiece

They are amazing! Balanced and dynamic. Fun and technical - hard combo to achieve. For once AI may have said it best:

The Unique Melody MEST Jet Black is praised for its incredibly detailed, balanced, and versatile sound, with vivid vocal emphasis, excellent instrument separation, and layering, positioning it as a "master of all" IEM

Very impressive indeed, but with one caveat. They are verrry cable sensitive. I got mine without cable having an assortment around. I tried Hansound Quentin, Eletech Aristotle and EE Monarch. All rendered shouty upper mids and overextended treble to more or less extent. When I finally reached for the PW 1950s shielding it was magic. I realize the 1950 is almost twice as expensive as the JB. The point is be patient and prob start with the Dreamy cable and go from there. I have not tried this cable but assume it is a good start. I use the Baroque tips to max stage and add just a touch of warmth or richness.

Thanks UM for not going down the added warmth trend. I think this is a masterpiece in natural beauty.

Oh - and they are very handsome exuding understated luxury. 🤣

Awesome set

Can't comment on the cables, but these are excellently balanced. Lighter on bass, but good depth, amazing layering and separation. Can't go wrong here.
