Great combination with my Astell & Kern Kann Alpha. The IEMs come with a choice of several types of ear buds. Worth trying them all for deciding on best fit and sealing, which is critical to get the optimal sound. Very pleased with the decision for these IEMs and the customer service by MusicTec.
UM Universal MEST MKII (Like New)
I bought these used, but I'm pretty sure these have never been used, that's the perfect (or near perfect condition) these came in. MEST MKII are exceptional to my ears, and the service and delivery speed from MusicTeck are just as good. Definitely recommend both.
I’ve have 50 headphones included Susvara and lcd-r etc.. I’ve never heard anything like Mest before. I love these things and rank them up there in the same range as lcd-r, he1000v1, Voce… I also have A12t/A18t and I prefer Mest. Also Mest mk2 is the only headphone to ever make me shed a tear.
It works really well for tracks with mostly instruments. Not quite as good at vocal tracks. This set makes violins feel very realistic, and other instruments too.
Works for EDM too. The bone conduction is not gimmicky either, it works well and seemlessly blends in with the music, kind of like a well dialed in subwoofer.
Soundstage is not that great imo, but the layering and separation is very good. Instruments seem to pop out at you.
I’m blown away. I’ve had around 50 headphones. Including Susvara, he1000, LCD-R, HD800 and tried quite a few others, and have been in the hope around 5 years.
Just got UM Mest MK2 today, and I actually shed a tear for the first time while wearing headphones. Astonished it was from an IEM. Such a unique set. Sounds good on Fiio M17 and on Holo May + 430HA bass improves drastically and overall sound quality is very impressive. I haven’t tried it on midrange dac/amps yet, but Judging based on what I’ve heard so far, they need a good+powerful source. Also noticed they are very picky about tracks. They like orchestral and very good recording quality. It punishes you if the recording quality is not good.
