Impressions:
More entry-level surprises from EarAcoustic, the Mix9 features a well-done 9-driver tribrid design and unique tuning. The tuning has a mild U-shaped reference sound signature, with extra emphasis on well-extended, deep, textured sub-bass rumble and forward upper mids. EarAcoustic refers to its Mix9 as the IEM with “pop tuning architecture” to bring forward the pop vocal performance, and that’s exactly the main focus of their tuning. But despite this mid-forward emphasis, the bass still has a great quality with a nice texture and a softer punch. Mids are neutral, transparent, forward, clean, clear, natural, and with good detail retrieval. The treble is also clear, detailed, natural, silky-smooth, non-fatiguing, and modestly extended, without any harshness or ringing, unlike some other micro-Planar drivers. The tuning is great for those who value male and female vocals and prefer a more natural, relaxed, reference tonality with an added texture of sub-bass rumble.
